Product Description
Smelts are a small fish that are packed with essential
fatty acids and a variety of vitamins and minerals.
B vitamins are needed for growth, muscle development,
proper enzyme function and the production of red blood cells.
Potassium is an electrolyte which is required for proper
functioning of enzymes, muscles and nerves.
Omega-3 is excellent for the skin, coat, heart and
reducing inflammation.
Being a small fish they have a very low mercury content.
Try feeding frozen between meals as a treat.
We at Raaw Energy recommend feeding raw fish.
But some types may contain thiaminase which is an enzyme
that reduces thiamin or B1’s absorption.
Salmon and Atlantic mackerel do not contain thiaminase.
Feeding smelts or sardines is very beneficial as they contain a wealth
of essential nutrients and fatty acids that your dog needs.
It’s best to feed these fish as separate meals or between meals as treats.
Feeding fish containing thiaminase sparingly will not cause
a B1 deficiency, only if fed in excess.
Avoiding fish altogether is NOT a wise strategy plan.

Smelts
These fish are a great supplement to my dogs diet. What I am not happen about is they always arrive mostly thaw. I pick up as soon as the truck delivers so am not sure why the are thawed. I have had this problem with the sardines too! Maybe the delivery truck should have a large cooler in it.
